Today, more than ever business success requires awareness and effective communication skills. Working, meeting, dealing, negotiating and corresponding with team members of different backgrounds can be challenges arisen from diversity, issues that surface in diverse workgroups.

Understanding and appreciating differences ultimately promotes clearer communication, breaks down barriers, builds trust, strengthens relationships, opens horizons and yields tangible results in terms of business success.

This workshop helps learners move beyond tolerance, patronization, generosity, good deeds and common decency to confronting differences and developing the flexibility that allows appreciation and respect for both similarities and differences among team members. Ultimately, learners will learn to manage different people effectively and understand them better to achieve productive outcomes.

At the end of the course, learners are able to:

  • Increase their behavioural and emotional self-awareness.
  • Communicate effectively with people of different backgrounds.
  • Improve team work.
  • Appreciating differences.

This workshop is suitable for anyone in a supervisory role who wants to gain an understanding of how how to manage diverse team effectively to achieve excellency.

This workshop is interactive, hands-on and skill-based throughout. Peer learning from sharing experiences will be strongly encouraged.

Learning methods include facilitator’s short input, group exercises and feedback, self-assessments, brainstorming, role plays and case studies related to real life applications.

  • Using the DISC to understand an individual’s outward behaviour and thought processes and appreciating differences; turning them into positive outcomes.
  • Using the DISC profile to identify one’s and other people’s working and communication styles.
  • How to use the DISC psychometric tool to communicate to different groups of people and managing their subordinates effectively.
  • Tuckman’s model of team dynamics.
  • Identifying team members’ developmental levels, their current level of competence and commitment and improving team work by adopting different leadership styles.
  • How to motivate team members effectively.
  • How to identify the team member’s competency, development levels and adopting the appropriate communication style accordingly.

Caroline has more than 10 years of invaluable experience as an Editor of lifestyle and technical publications and 20 years  teaching business management, environmental and soft-skills communication.  

As a former journalist, Caroline’s professional work experience as a Corporate Trainer/Facilitator,  Keynote Speaker and Learning & Development Consultant; has required her to market the value of  her programs and persuade clients to value and understand the urgency of good communication  and management skills in the work force. As an ACTA certified WSQ trainer, She has also worked  with  the  Workforce Development  Agency  of  Singapore  to  develop  training  content  for  the  Employability Skills System where she successfully attained industry approved competencies in  conducting, planning and designing competency based assessments for communication  workshops. 

Her  many  opportunities  in  working  with  the  public  and  private  sectors  around  the  world  has  enhanced her training experience. Learners of her training workshops attest to her motivational,  instructional and highly experiential training methodology that have helped them in their workplace  business  management.  Caroline  has  trained  operational,  supervisory  and  managerial  staff  from  various organisations. 

She holds a Master of Arts in Mass Communication from NTU (Singapore) and has attained the  Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) certification through the  London Teacher Training College and also teaches English as a foreign language. Caroline is also  an  MBTI®,  DISC  Accredited  Administrator,  Enneagram  and  Lumina  Spark/Emotion  practitioner;   Certified  ScrumMaster®  and  ICAgile  Certified  Professional  Agile  Team  Facilitation  (ICP-ATF)  of  which she uses such tools for top level managers and supervisors on managing their leadership  styles and team members. Caroline is now pursuing her Doctorate in Business Administration from  the University of Teesside (UK).
