1-Day From Stress to Strength: Empowering Others with Psychological First Aid (PFA) Course

Course Overview

This course is created, owned, and trained by its original creator,  Ms. Angie Toh. Learn from the original creator.

Psychological First Aid (PFA) is a compassionate, evidence-based approach designed to provide immediate emotional and psychological support to individuals experiencing distress. Rooted in principles of empathy, safety, and empowerment,

PFA is a vital tool for helping people navigate the challenges of stress, trauma, and crisis. Whether responding to workplace stress, personal crises, natural disasters, or large-scale emergencies, PFA equips participants with essential skills to offer comfort, stabilize emotions, and promote resilience in those they support.

This course is designed to provide a structured yet flexible framework for understanding and practicing PFA. It emphasizes the importance of creating a safe and supportive environment, actively listening to those in distress, and connecting individuals to appropriate resources. Beyond helping others, the course also highlights the critical role of self-care for PFA providers, ensuring they can sustain their ability to offer support without compromising their own well-being.

Through a blend of theoretical insights, real-world case studies, and hands-on practical exercises, participants will gain the confidence and competence needed to deliver effective PFA in diverse settings. By the end of the course, participants will not only understand the principles of PFA but also be equipped to apply them in a way that fosters recovery, resilience, and hope for those they assist.

This holistic approach ensures that participants are prepared to provide compassionate and effective support while maintaining their own emotional and psychological health.

Upon completion of the course, learners will be able to:

  1. Understand the core principles and purpose of Psychological First Aid (PFA).
  2. Recognize the psychological and physiological impacts of stress and trauma.
  3. Develop practical skills to deliver PFA using the Look, Listen, Link
  4. Identify signs of compassion fatigue and implement self-care strategies to maintain personal well-being.
