1-Day Facilitating Discussions and Meetings Skills Course

Course Overview

This course is created, owned, and trained by its original creator,  Ms. Emma Jarman-Jones. Learn from the original creator.

Facilitation is “the act of helping other people to deal with a process or reach an agreement or solution without getting directly involved in the processor discussion yourself”.

As a leader and member of a group, one of the most important skills we need is the ability to manage and guide discussions and planning sessions. Small group, as well as large group discussions, need someone to direct and shape the contributions in order to achieve goals and accomplish the set objectives.  Being able to reach decisions democratically and achieve goals as a group is important in helping organisations to move forward – the role of the facilitator is essential in achieving this.

This one-day workshop is designed to give you the skills to create a safe environment for participants to share their ideas, as well as manage discussions and contributions.

Upon completion of the course, learners will be able to:

  • Clearly understand the role of a facilitator
  • Create a safe environment for discussions to take place
  • Develop the key skills needed to facilitate – questioning and listening
  • Identify techniques to manage discussions
  • Deal with different types of questions

This course is designed for all those who are new to facilitation or are looking to refine their facilitation skills.

Learners are guided through the topic with a combination of small and large group discussion, practice and feedback.
