Every day, tons of emails are sent and received in many workplaces. However, many writers are unaware that there are techniques in writing email more effectively, and that there are certain professional standards for handling emails. This course shows writers how to achieve the 7 C’s in writing business emails. It also offers tips on improving email etiquette that will make them more considerate and courteous writers.
Writing is a skill, and like any skill, one has to practice. Learners are encouraged to advance the skills and knowledge acquired from this course with other related courses, such as Better Grammar for Business and Editing and Proofreading Skills to write your way to success.
Objectives
Upon completion of the course, learners will be able to:
- Write more effective emails that are clear, concise, precise and grammatically correct
- Have a better understanding of the importance of email etiquette

Methodology
Learners are guided through practical steps of the topic with a combination of lectures, online quizzes, motivational game, activity cards, short writing and editing exercises, analysis of case examples and small group discussions.

Our Dedicated Trainer - Ms. Florence Au
Florence is a highly experienced adult educator. For more than 30 years, she has been training business writing skills in both the private and public sectors. She is also a certified workplace literacy trainer.
For learning to be effective, Florence believes firmly in designing programmes that are tailored to the specific needs of the learners. So, what learners learn should be applicable to their work.
She has since designed in-house writing programmes for several clients that include government agencies and private companies, some of which are customised with pre-course assessments and post-course coaching.
Florence holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and Literature. Professionally, she holds a Diploma in Translation and Interpretation and Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment (ACTA).
In 2014, Florence received the Associate Excellence Award from the Civil Service College where she is an Associate Trainer.
